After The Allender Center
I've been invited to train under Dr. Curt Thompson
Following a year of immersive training at The Allender Center, I’ve been honored with the opportunity to continue my studies under Dr. Curt Thompson and his clinical team at New Story Behavioral Health.
Dr. Thompson — a psychiatrist, author, and leading voice in the integration of interpersonal neurobiology and Christian spiritual formation — recently invited me to train underneath him in his unique approach to StoryWork, known as Confessional Communities: small, intentional groups of people committed to meaningful connection, greater spiritual depth, and telling our stories more truthfully.
While The Allender Center prioritized engaging individual stories, Dr. Thompson centers on encountering God’s presence and one another’s’ stories within community. It’s a natural and deeply meaningful next step. Here’s an interview regarding his work:
A year ago, when I first applied to The Allender Center, I was confident that this would be my next step. As we continue offering story-based resources to the local church, it’s essential that I also continue my own formation so I can better hold space for healing and truth, both one-on-one and in group settings.
In November 2025, I’ll join a small cohort of 16 for a 10-month journey with Dr. Thompson. The training includes weekly lectures and gatherings, personal supervision, and two in-person intensive at his clinic near Washington, D.C.
To help make this next chapter possible, we’re aiming to raise $10,000 to cover tuition, training materials, travel, and lodging.
Would you consider partnering with us and help bring this opportunity to life?
Your support continues to directly shape how we cultivate healing spaces rooted in biblical wisdom, relational depth, and safety. We’re deeply grateful for support.
With kindness,
